Obtaining and Losing Karma
Karma, in this game, is earned by doing basically what your character is themed to be doing. The more heroic you are and the more you do to affect the world(s) in a positive way, the more Karma you have the potential of earning.
Karma can be awarded for various acts and is given at the GM's discretion.
Karma can also be removed at the GM's discretion for acts that are heinous, sadistic or evil. This is a 'heroes' game, so the more rotten your character acts, the more the universe punishes him or her for it. Of course, certain things also depend on the mold of the character. Captain America might lose more Karma for breaking someone's leg and abandoning him than would Winter Soldier, for example.
Making tough choices and doing the best you can with what you are given can also award you Karma, while just dismissing something very important could cost you.
Karma is also spent on Statistics/Talents/Resources/Powers. When these points are spent, they are considered gone, even if in the future you somehow lose anything you bought up with Karma points. Spent Karma Points are non-refundable, unless a GM decides otherwise, but a majority of the time, consider them vanquished and well spent.
