Spending Karma for Bonuses
Posted: Wed Apr 24, 2024 2:25 am
Karma can be used for two purposes in the game:
1. To improve your character's Stats/Powers/Talents etc over time.
2. To aid you in combat or uncontested rolls.
In this section, we will discuss what transpires under option 2. Spending Karma is optional but must be declared prior to rolling an attack or an uncontested roll. You may add no less than 10 Karma for the roll. If the roll is uncontested or an attack roll, you must add enough to equal up to at least +1CS. Karma passed this must still equal out in the end to a full Chart Shift. i.e. If you have a Remarkable Agility and want to shoot someone with bonuses adding in Karma, up to Amazing, you would spend 20 points. Once this Karma is spent, it is gone. You may only add Karma to equal up to 2 times your normal Rank for attacking or defending or making uncontested rolls. There are no penalties for doing this, other than you lose the Karma, which will be replenished eventually in game play.

Karma Spent on Damage
You may choose to spend Karma to boost your damage, which is declared prior to the damage roll. This will add damage at 1 point per Karma point spent. Once this is spent, it is gone. You may only add up to half your Damage Rank for bonus to damage.
Karma Spent on Soaking
You may choose to spend Karma to soak damage, which should be declared before the roll is made. This may be up to half of your Endurance. If you have Body Armor, natural or otherwise, you may choose to add Karma that is 1/2 the normal Rating of your Body Armor. Bear in mind, once the Karma is spent, it is gone.
